In this Lenten season, Loving God, you call us to a time of reflection and contemplation.
A time to ponder where our wandering steps have separated us from you.
A time to consider all of who we are and where you want us to be.
A time to confess our sins and establish a proper relationship with you.
The following short prayers may be used to aid our contemplation about ourselves and our relationship with the Lord.
As Jesus resisted temptation by the devil in the wilderness, help us reflect on his faithfulness to God, his rejection of worldly values and hold these thoughts in our hearts throughout Lent and beyond. Amen
Jesus, you prayed and fasted. As your disciple teach me about spiritual discipline in my relationship with you. Amen
Lord may Lent be a time of inward searching that makes me more able to look with compassion at the needs of the
world. Amen
Thank you Lord for desert experiences, when being confronted with myself makes me realise my need of you. Amen
Lord, throughout this Lenten period, help us to draw near to you in praise, stripping away all that distracts us from worship. Amen
Loving God,
Thank you for mums and children
and for all the joy of family life.
Be with those who are grieving because they have no mother;
Be close to those who are struggling because they have no children;
Be near to those who are sad because they are far apart from those they love.
Let your love be present in every home,
And help your church to have eyes to see and ears to hear the needs of all who come.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Heavenly Father, we rejoice with thanks
for all those who have mothered us in our lives.
In a world that is broken and in need of your motherly love,
please use us to aid others as you do us in providing comfort, nurture, protection and support.
We pray for all who suffer today, in mind, body or spirit.
In particular, we pray for those who have lost a motherly presence, and for those who have never known a mother’s love.
May they find consolation in you, the one in whom every family on earth finds its home.
May your love fill our hearts;
May your love fill our homes;
And may the grace of the Holy Spirit,
bind us together in love in our families and communities.
Amen
From March 26th we are in Passion Week and as we contemplate the events of the days leading up to the crucifixion, perhaps this verse from Singing the Faith 266 will guide our thoughts and prayers:
Let the room be hushed and still,
let us go to where He kneels
and join Him as he serves,
and learn His ways of love.
He said, this is what I’m asking you to do,
this is why I’m kneeling here before you.
This is what I want my Church to be,
this is what I want the world to see –
who it is you follow.
Love each other, one another.
Love each other in the way that I have loved you.
Walk together, and whatever comes,
love each other in the way that I have loved you. (Graham Kendrick)
Lord, you've guided us through the difficult days of Lent, encouraging us along the way. We pray as we move towards the darkest day, that you'll not forsake us but remind us of our Saviour's ultimate gift and promise of new, abundant, eternal life for all who believe and trust in him, your precious son, Jesus. Amen
Please join us for quiet prayer Saturday morning at 10:00 am. .
A request box is available if you would appreciate others praying for a specific person or situation. Every Saturday at 10:00am there is an ecumenical prayer meeting, just for half an hour. New members are always welcome and there is no pressure to pray aloud.
Please make others aware that the Prayer room can be used by anyone. Of course we can pray anytime and anywhere, but sometimes just going to a specific place set aside for prayer might help you to feel closer to God. Give it a try!
There's a loop system installed in the Church and in the Lounge.
